About Project
Chaung Gyi School is a post-primary school that offers education up to Grade 8. It has over 750 students but doesn’t even have a proper classroom building — the students are currently learning in temporary shelters. Chaung Gyi School is located in Thabeikkyin Township, far from Mandalay, and there are no other schools nearby.
This school was in urgent need of a proper classroom building, and the head monk also expressed his intention to expand teaching up to Grade 10. Therefore, a two-story school building with 12 classrooms was donated.
After the new building was provided, the school expanded to offer education up to Grade 9, and the student population grew to over 1,000. However, this created another shortage of classrooms. Seeing how this progress brought better educational opportunities for the children’s future, an additional two-story classroom building with 4 rooms was donated, along with 30 computers.
